I was afforded an opportunity to tour the new home of the CHL’s Allen Americans yesterday. The newly built Allen Event Center has come a long way in just a few short months. As recently as September, there were parts of the building still open to the outside elements. Now, the building is just days away from hosting it’s first event (Reba McEntire on Friday) and it’s first hockey game (Saturday, when the Americans host the Corpus Christi IceRayz). I was allowed to take some video of the arena – you can view it below. The audio isn’t very compelling, due to the alarm testing they were doing at the time…but the ice is pristinely perfect.

After the tour, Americans head coach Dwight Mullins and a few of his players talked about their recent success and the how the team feels after their strong start (4-0-1 through the first five games). I’ve had trouble getting this video to post to BDH’s YouTube stream, though. I will edit this posting, adding the video, once the issues with the posting are figured out. Sorry for the issues, but I don’t think they’re on this end.
