(Tempe, Arizona) – The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 13, 2009 are center Brendon Hodge of the Rapid City Rush and goaltender Brett Jaeger of the Texas Brahmas.
Hodge factored in heavily during the Rush’s 3-0 week scoring two goals with seven assists. In two of the Rush’s three games, the Lynnfield, Massachusetts native totaled four points scoring a goal and adding three assists in Rapid City’s 9-2 win at Missouri on December 8 and contributing a goal and three assists in the team’s 5-4 win versus Wichita on December 12 (Hodge’s third period power play goal served as the game winner). The 6-2, 205-pound forward had an assist in Rapid City’s 5-3 win over Wichita on December 11 in the other game of the week. On the season, Hodge has nine goals and 12 assists in 22 games played for the league’s hottest team. The Rush have won nine straight games and are two points behind Colorado for first place in the Northern Conference.
Jaeger has not lost a game in regulation since November 25 fueling the recent surge by the defending champs. Last week, the Peace River, Alberta native went 2-0 allowing three goals on 64 shots (.953 save percentage). Texas and Jaeger needed overtime to beat the Arizona Sundogs 3-2 on December 11 with the goaltender making 35 saves. The 5-10, 190-pound netminder followed that up with a 4-1 win on December 12 in Tulsa where he made 26 saves. On the season, Jaeger is 7-6-1 with a 2.96 goals against average for the Brahmas who have won six straight games sitting in third place in the Southern Conference.
In recognition of their achievements both Hodge and Jaeger will receive a special gift from Oakley.
