Brahmas’ Elias Godoy Named CHL Player of the Week
The CHL announced their weekly awards for Goalie/Player of the Week. Texas’ Elias Godoy won the Player award for his strong play in two games for the Brahmas. The press release and stats are below:

(Tempe, Arizona) – The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 17, 2010 are forward Elias Godoy of the Texas Brahmas and goaltender Danny Battochio of the Rapid City Rush.
Godoy earned six points (3-3=6) in two games this past week as his team won both games. The West Vancouver, British Columbia native had a hand in six of the Brahmas 10 goals scored on the weeke winning goal in Texas’ The Texas Brahma player had a hand in more than half of his team’s goals scored on the week and has five goals and six assists in his last seven games played. The 5-11, 180-pound forward had a goal and two assists in the Brahmas win over Tulsa on Friday and then followed that up with two goals and an assist in his team’s win over Arizona on Saturday.
Battochio played in the 2010 CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday in Laredo and then quickly saw action for the Rush in Allen on Friday and in Amarillo on Saturday. He finished his two starts stopping 65 of the 69 shots that came his way (.942 save percentage). The Rapid City net minder led the Rush to an impressive 6-1 victory over Allen on Friday and then held off Amarillo in Rapid City’s 4-3 win on Saturday. The Lively, Ontario native currently sits fourth in the league with a 2.52 goals against average, tied for second with 14 wins and is fifth with a .920 save percentage. The rookie goaltender has won 11 straight decisions and has not lost a game since November 20.
In recognition of their achievements both Godoy and Battochio will receive a special gift from Oakley.
